ACTION PLANNING

Action planning for organizational change to support prevention work was a core component of DELTA PREP project activities.

The action plan provides a blueprint to help guide the organizational change process.

The action plan offers a process to:

  • Focus attention on what needs to happen
  • Foster accountability for bringing about change

Overview of Action Planning

  • Vision—the dream
  • Mission—what and why—incorporating primary prevention of IPV
  • What organizational changes will be sought?
  • Who will do what by when to achieve the changes?

Coalitions can use the information gathered from their Coalition Prevention Capacity Assessment (CPCA) to help determine priority areas in their action plans for organizational change to build prevention capacity.

Once developed, action plans should be revisited regularly, making adjustments to the plan as needed, reflecting the movement and progress of the organization’s capacity-building work.

As the coalition’s prevention capacity is strengthened, action plans will evolve to include changes to be sought in the community and state for prevention of IPV.

The Action Planning Workbook provides a framework for coalition leadership and staff to discuss, identify and operationalize changes intended to integrate prevention into the organization.

The Prevention Inventory is a tool to help identify potential changes for the coalition to consider for inclusion in its action plan.
