HELLO

Organizational capacity for prevention is defined as the integration of prevention priorities into a coalition’s organizational framework. If your organization has not been engaged in primary prevention work, this means Change!

Things to consider:

  • Is your organization’s leadership and staff talking about primary prevention?
  • Who is leading the discussion and who is participating in the dialogue?
  • Are leadership and staff knowledgeable about primary prevention concepts and principles?
  • Do you have a common language around prevention?
  • What is your organization’s current capacity to engage in primary prevention efforts?
  • Who in your organization needs to be committed to addressing primary prevention in order to successfully make the changes necessary to incorporate primary prevention alongside your intervention work?
  • What’s your plan for change and where do you begin?
