This two-day training program for women who have been battered, advocates, women's-group facilitators, and community activists is based on DAIP's classic In Our Best Interest curriculum. It is open to women only. Trainers Beth and John Beams will guide participants through a process of learning how to facilitate educational groups in which women who have been battered explore personal, institutional, and cultural action to end violence against women. The process includes discussions about many topics, such as the ways in which racism, sexism, homophobia, and classism contribute to violence against women; role-plays; exercises; and presentations about philosophy that underpins the In Our Best Interest manual and videos. Participants usually come away from this training with new energy for their work.
