GPS Monitoring Technologies and Domestic Violence: An Evaluation Study

General Material
Published Date
June, 2012

This report describes a study of the use of GPS monitoring technology to enforce no contact orders in domestic abuse cases. There were three parts to the study. The first was a survey of agencies handling pretrial supervision. The second was a “quasi-experimental design study.” The third was an investigation composed of interviews with stakeholders.

The report outlines some of the benefits and burdens of GPS monitoring, as well as policy implications and the importance of maintaining relationships with survivors.
