National and State Reports for loveisrespect: January through June 2015

This toolkit consists of national and the state reports for the top 10 contact states for loveisrespect, a project of the National Domestic Violence Hotline (The Hotline) and Break the Cycle. In the first half of 2015, loveisrespect documented 7,028 contacts across the country. For the purposes of the reports contained in this toolkit, a documented contact refers to telephone calls, online chats and text messages where callers, chatters or texters self-disclosed their location.

Key statistics from the National loveisrespect Report for the first half of the year include:

  • 36.2 percent of the documented telephone calls, online chats and text messages to loveisrespect were from individuals seeking information on healthy relationships.
  • 31.4 percent of the victims and survivors who contacted loveisrespect were between 20 and 24 years old.
  • 91 percent of victims and survivors who contacted loveisrespect experienced emotional or verbal abuse; 46 percent experienced physical abuse.
