Vera Institute of Justice’s Center on Victimization and Safety has created a roadmap for bringing together agencies at the intersection of violence and disability so that they can create a new and effective approach to safety, healing, and accessibility to services for their clients.

This article strives to balance fairly and effectively the voices and needs of individuals with disabilities with those of service providers who provide either disability or domestic violence/sexual assault services. The intent of this article to is to highlight opportunities for positive change, hopefully in a way that will help empower service providers as well as victims and survivors with disabilities.

The Accessibility Responsiveness Tool provides a framework for domestic violence, sexual violence, and disability service organizations to think about the “when, where, what, and how” of providing inclusive, accessible, trauma-informed, and responsive services.
