The article reports, “Esta Soler’s work on behalf of battered women started 30 years ago with one small desk in the district attorney’s office and one chair at San Francisco General Hospital. Soler, one of the nation’s leaders in the domestic violence movement and a driving force behind national legislation to prevent violence against women, now runs Futures Without Violence out of an 8,000-square-foot center in San Francisco’s Presidio.”
