Public benefits

Public benefits play a critical role in increasing the safety of immigrant survivors. However, navigating the complex web of different eligibility criteria under federal and state laws can be challenging for immigrant survivors and service providers. The resources included in this section provide information about eligibility to receive public benefits for immigrant survivors and the different types of benefits available.

The National Immigrant Women's Advocacy Project (NIWAP) offers a state-by-state map of public benefits available to immigrants across the country. If you have additional questions or need technical assistance on immigrant victim access to federal and state public benefits, contact NIWAP by email at info@niwap.org or by phone at 202-274-4457.
