North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCCADV) Content Topic Results

Domestic violence is linked to many other forms of violence and other health outcomes through shared risk and protective factors. This 2-part webinar series from the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence outlines key research on risk and protective factors and explores ways that local programs can use this research to information DV prevention strategies.

This document includes 2 resources: the Guidance serves as a general guide for colleges and universities as they develop their domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and sexual violence policies, and the Template is a supplement to the Guidance, including a recommended layout and language for the policy itself.

This toolkit was developed by faith leaders to clarify best practices and model policies in identification, referral response and prevention of domestic violence. The goal of the toolkit is to increase the capacity of among faith leaders and communities to engage in work which shifts the norms, attitudes and beliefs of individuals, peer groups, families and communities to increase support of healthy relationships and to improve the response to domestic violence within their congregations.

This plan represents the first effort on this scale in North Carolina to address the factors that increase risk for perpetration of intimate partner violence and to promote factors which create healthy, sustainable families and communities. This manual was created support the work of establishing a support group for battered Spanish-speaking women. It is intended for use by any group or organization that wants to start a Spanish-language support group in their area.

Committee members used this catalog when developing North Carolinas 10-Year Plan to Prevent Intimate Partner Violence to inform their recommendation of dating violence prevention and healthy relationship promotion programming for use in community, faith and school-based settings.

Since January 1, 2002, NCCADV has collected information regarding domestic violence homicides in North Carolina. Information is gathered from public sources, primarily from media reports, and posted on NCCADVs website. The intention is for this list to serve as a memorial to the victims and their families, and to provide a current representation of the tragic impact domestic violence has in North Carolina.
