The American Rescue Plan and Cash Assistance for Families that Include Immigrants

Event Date
Monday, April 26, 2021, 04:00PM

What the American Rescue Plan (ARP) will mean for states and local governments is slowing coming into focus. It is clear is that states will still need to play a role in maximizing the reach of benefits and filling gaps that arise. As in past federal relief packages, immigrants who are undocumented are excluded from some key forms of assistance such as stimulus payments and enhanced unemployment insurance. In this presentation, participants will hear from four advocates who have been at the forefront of efforts by state advocates to push policymakers to provide the resources and assistance that excluded families and workers need. Each will describe the advances their coalitions were able to secure and then discuss and answer questions about the barriers and landmines they needed to overcome.
