Beyond the Letters: The ABCs of Working with LGBTQ Survivors

We all have many identities and experiences that make us who we are. This is true for LGBTQ victims or crime, as well. This session will review core information about who LGBTQ survivors are, including prevalence and other victimization data. It will provide an exploration of common barriers LGBTQ survivors face will engage attendees in thinking broadly about the many intersections associated with gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, race, disability, age, economics, employment, access to health care, and many other factors that influence LGBTQ victims of crime from accessing services. Participants will leave with clear and concrete ideas of what they can do to better serve LGBTQ survivors of crime.
