Bridges: A Connect Call for Asians, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders Addressing Gender-Based Violence

Event Date
Tuesday, August 24, 2021, 03:00PM

The Asian Pacific Institute on Gender-Based Violence's (API-GBV) bi-monthly community connect calls are intended to be a space for AANHPI advocates, community members, and allies to connect, dialogue, share successes, problem solve, and network. API-GBV staff will be available to moderate and encourage discussion, but this is a space for YOU, as the experts of this work, to share your experiences and to learn from allies across the country.

In the August call, participants will discuss access for AAPI survivors of gender-based violence who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Many survivors who hold these intersectional identities face increased isolation from communities and limited options for meaningful support. During this session,  Asian Pacific Institute on Gender-Based Violence (API-GBV) staff will facilitate conversation around making physical and virtual spaces accessible, inclusivity in outreach, privilege within and outside of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community, intersections with experiences with racism, and what it means to be a Hearing ally.
