The training provided to interpreters typically does not encompass a survivor-centered analysis, nor the tools to interpret effectively for survivors of sexual violence who have limited proficiency in English. In Part 2 of this series, presenters will explore the concept of trauma and its impact when interpreting for sexual assault survivors. The presenters will highlight practices that will support survivors through their healing and justice-seeking process and interpreters through their work with survivors developing awareness on vicarious trauma and self-care, promoting a healing-centered interpreting framework.
