April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Every year, FORGE (a national transgender anti-violence organization), focuses our social media efforts on raising public awareness about sexual violence specific to transgender, gender-diverse, and non-binary individuals, loved ones, and communities.
About the Contest
Last October 2017, the #MeToo movement – a movement raising awareness of sexual harassment, misconduct, abuse, and assault – went viral and has continued to play a prominent role in shaping how our culture is recognizing and addressing sexual violence. The #MeToo movement has remained solely focused on women, leaving the majority of trans and non-binary survivors feeling erased from this powerful movement that has led to so many female survivors feeling validation and healing.
For #SAAM 2018, FORGE is inviting artists to design and submit a coloring book style image around the concept of #TransToo. The image can be as simple or as intricate as you like. Designs should be black and white, and scalable so they can be printed on 8.5 X 11” paper. During April, people will be invited to color the winning design and share their resulting artwork as part of FORGE’s #SAAM #TransToo social media campaign.
The #TransToo coloring page contest is open to everyone. FORGE welcomes survivors, loved ones, providers, and allies to submit a design. We encourage artists to be creative. #TransToo can mean many different things to different people. Use your imagination and let the world know that sexual violence affects #Trans(people)Too!
Submissions must be received on or before March 25, 2018. Learn more here.
