Support at the Intersections: Centering Black LGBTQ Survivors of Sexual Violence

Event Date
Tuesday, April 14, 2020, 03:00PM

Join the NW Network in this important conversation on supporting Black LGBTQ survivors of sexual violence. Racism and anti-blackness uniquely impact queer and trans Black people when it comes to their experiences of surviving sexual violence and seeking support. These unique impacts magnify the stigma, silence and shame that many survivors experience. Presenters will be sharing our theory and analysis in how centering support for Black queer and trans survivors make support better for all survivors, relaying lessons from our people-of-color specific programming and discussing what it takes for providers to shift the lens from systems reliance to strengths-based support that meets the complex needs and lived experiences of all survivors.
