They can all take place under one roof, in the same community or neighborhood, at the same time, or at different stages of life. Understanding the overlapping causes of violence and the things that can protect people and communities can help us better prevent violence in all its forms.</p> <p><strong><em>Connecting the Dots: An Overview of the Links Among Multiple Forms of Violence</em></strong> was co-developed by CDC’s Division of Violence Prevention and Prevention Institute. This brief shares research on connections between different forms of violence and describes how these connections affect communities. The purpose is to support those working to prevent violence in thinking strategically and creatively about:</p> <ul> <li>Preventing all types of violence from occurring in the first place and</li> <li>Coordinating and integrating responses to violence in a way that recognizes these connections and considers the individual in the context of their home environment, neighborhood, and larger community.</li> </ul> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-associated-links field--type-link field--label-above"> <div class="field__label">Associated Links</div> <div class="field__items"> <div class="field__item"><a href="https://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/pdf/connecting_the_dots-a.pdf" target="_blank">Connecting the Dots: An Overview of the Links Among Multiple Forms of Violence</a></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-material-categories field--type-entity-reference field--label-above"> <div class="field__label">Material Categories</div> <div class="field__items"> <div class="field__item"><a href="/materials/prevention-programming" hreflang="und">Prevention Programming</a></div> <div class="field__item"><a href="/materials/domestic-violence" hreflang="und">Domestic Violence</a></div> <div class="field__item"><a href="/materials/health-public-health" hreflang="und">Health / Public Health</a></div> <div class="field__item"><a href="/materials/sexual-violence" hreflang="und">Sexual Violence</a></div> </div> </div> Wed, 05 May 2021 17:27:53 +0000 berdman 12028 at https://vawnet.org Understanding Evidence Part 1: Best Available Research Evidence https://vawnet.org/material/understanding-evidence-part-1-best-available-research-evidence <span class="field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden">Understanding Evidence Part 1: Best Available Research Evidence</span> <span class="field field--name-uid field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden"><span lang="" typeof="schema:Person" property="schema:name" datatype="">Anonymous (not verified)</span></span> <span class="field field--name-created field--type-created field--label-hidden">Tue, 09/23/2014 - 12:58</span> <div class="field field--name-field-material-type field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden field__items"> <div class="field__item">General Material</div> <div class="field__item">General Material</div> </div> <drupal-render-placeholder callback="flag.link_builder:build" arguments="0=node&amp;1=5952&amp;2=bookmark" token="-C4rIhSBA0kCO78xSNCaxd8QoWyTQSI2RUtWX8u8K34"></drupal-render-placeholder> <div class="field field--name-field-publisher field--type-entity-reference field--label-inline clearfix"> <div class="field__label">Publisher(s)</div> <div class="field__items"> <div class="field__item"><a href="/publisher/national-center-injury-prevention-and-control" hreflang="en">National Center for Injury Prevention and Control</a></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-author field--type-entity-reference field--label-inline clearfix"> <div class="field__label">Author(s)</div> <div class="field__items"> <div class="field__item"><a href="/author/richard-w-puddy" hreflang="en">Richard W. The more rigorous a studys research deÎsign, (e.g., randomized control trials, quasi-experimental designs), the more compelling the research evidence.</p> <p>The Best Available Research Evidence is widely accepted as the most commonly used type of evidence in fields ranging from medicine to psychology. Although increasingly, other forms of evidence related to clinical/practitioner experience/expertise and setting/contextual factors have been recognized as being crucial to the success of prevention efforts for many behavioral health problems, including violence.</p> </div> Tue, 23 Sep 2014 16:58:02 +0000 Anonymous 5952 at https://vawnet.org
