Event Type
Event Date
Saturday, May 04, 2024, 03:00PM

The Battered Women's Justice Project (BWJP) will host a film screening for “And So I Stayed”, an award-winning documentary by Natalie Pattillo and Daniel A. Nelson about survivors of abuse fighting for their lives and spending years behind bars.

Directly following the film, BWJP will host a guided discussion that delves deeper into the film’s themes and will illuminate the plight of criminalized survivors who end up in the justice system.

As the lights dim and the stories unfold on the screen, you’ll be taken on a poignant journey into the lives of three survivors. “And So I Stayed” intimately captures their accounts, revealing the intricate web of trauma, abuse, survival, and transformation. Through raw and unfiltered narratives, the film challenges prevailing narratives and invites us to empathize with the individuals who, against all odds, found the strength to persist and survive.
