This law review article explores the subject of consent for sexual intercourse, especially for teenagers and young adults. The author addresses harmful media portrayals of sex without partners communicating about consent, sexualization and objectification of women in the media, and the fact that consent is often not thoroughly covered in school sex education classes. The author proposes that sex education classes should teach sexual negotiation skills in order to increase communication between partners, reduce sexual assault, and increase sexual health and pleasure.
