This report delineates some of the many interconnections between reproductive health and economic security, as well as the impact of access to abortion specifically on women’s economic status, health, and relationships.
The authors draw on critical new—and still emerging—data from a longitudinal study conducted by Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). That study, known as the Turnaway Study, tracked what happened to women who seek but are “turned away” from the abortion care they need.
