This report from the Sentencing Project documents the rates of incarceration for white, Black and Latinx Americans in each state, identifies three contributors to racial and ethnic disparities in imprisonment, and provides recommendations for reform. 

The Adult Children Exposed to Domestic Violence (ACE-DV) Leadership Forum is shifting the paradigm from deficit to growth – supporting the development of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, asset-based policies and practices that enhance resilience capacity in those who experience childhood trauma. This training explores how domestic violence shapes children’s lives and impacts parenting, with an emphasis on the assets and strengths of families who survive this experience together.

Racism has critical implications for Black adolescent girls’ mental health. This fact sheet from the National Black Women's Justice Institute outlines the case for gender-specific and culturally affirming services in order to address the mental health needs of Black girls.

This paper makes connections between health equity and our work to prevent sexual and intimate partner violence. It centers the stories of survivors at the intersections of systemic racism, violence, and oppression. It explores ways to build both individual and organizational capacity to address health inequity. And, it offers a call to action for those ready to commit to health equity in their gender-based violence prevention work.

Health is a basic human right and need. The September 2021 Technical Assistance Question of the Month (TAQ) shares select highlights from a newly released paper on health equity co-authored by staff at the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and National Sexual Violence Resource Center.

This brief explores how one local partnership in the Generation Work initiative, led by the Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana (GCSI) and specifically its Excel Center® adult high schools—rolled out racial and ethnic equity and inclusion (REEI) training for its staff throughout the organization as part of its recognition that PYD approaches would have limited reach without more explicit REEI work. 

Research and evaluation can be powerful tools for community-based programs in the gender-based violence (GBV) field. However, these tools also have a history of being used to harm marginalized communities, overburden GBV staff and organizations, and reproduce systemic inequities. This webinar explores key strategies to conduct research and evaluation in ways that avoid replicating harms and instead center survivors and advance social justice.

Alaskan Indigenous communities are encouraged to use this toolkit from the Alaska Native Women's Resource Center as a guide for developing a plan of action that will include awareness, prevention, and intervention strategies.

This report from the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law analyzes several data sources to provide information on adults who self-identify as AAPI and LGBT, including separate findings on Asian Americans and Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders.

The devastation homicide inflicts on Black teens and adults is a national crisis, yet it is all too often ignored outside of affected communities. This study examines the problem of Black homicide victimization at the state level by analyzing unpublished Supplementary Homicide Report (SHR) data for Black homicide victimization submitted to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Survivors of police sexual violence are rarely heard from or discussed in either conversation, and their experiences generally do not drive organizing and advocacy in either context. This report is intended to contribute to breaking this silence, to summarize what we know about sexual violence by law enforcement officers, and to offer concrete steps toward prevention of police sexual violence and increased safety, support, and opportunities for healing for survivors.
