This fact sheet provides a concise overview of secondary traumatic stress and its potential impact on child-serving professionals. It also outlines options for assessment, prevention, and interventions relevant to secondary stress, and describes the elements necessary for transforming child-serving organizations and agencies into systems that also support worker resiliency.

This curriculum provides training, tools, and resources to help home visitation staff address the complex and sometimes uncomfortable issue of domestic violence. When it comes to promoting health and safety outcomes for women and children impacted by domestic violence, there is a methodology to effective assessment, primary prevention, and anticipatory guidance messaging during home visits. In 2011, WCADV conducted 6 adult and 2 youth focus groups at DV programs in eight locations around Wisconsin. The purpose of these groups was to understand more about how DV has affected mother-child relationships and learn more about what these mothers and children need from DV programs. The focus groups were supplemented with information gathered from children in support groups in local domestic violence programs.
