NRCDV is proud to offer " My One Thing," a new 4 part mini series for #DVAM2018. Each week in October will feature the unique perspectives of advocates, survivors, and other community members who have been impacted by or are working to end gender-based violence.

Being surrounded by strong community, including neighbors one interacts with and cares about, can provide a buffer against experiences and consequences of intimate partner violence. NRCDV's October 2018 TA Question of the Month explores how neighbors and advocates can work together help bolster these strong spaces of social support for survivors.

Every year the National Call of Unity kicks off Domestic Violence Awareness Month by offering an opportunity to mourn, celebrate, and connect with advocates from national, state, and community-based organizations, governmental agencies, allied movements, survivors and their family and friends.

In this 1-hour panel discussion, representatives of the ACE-DV Leadership Forum explore considerations for valuing your worth as a speaker, making the case to our agencies/ systems, negotiating contract terms and fees, retaining rights to your story, and the risks and challenges in speaking your truth, especially for those who experience multiple layers of oppression.

The #1Thing Action Guide includes templates, recommendations, strategies, and tools for incorporating this message into your public awareness activities and campaigns during DVAM, and beyond.

In order to paint a clearer picture of workplace sexual harassment, the National Women’s Law Center analyzed sexual harassment charges filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission by women in the private sector between 2012 and 2016. This analysis establishes a critical baseline for evaluating the impact, if any, of the MeToo movement on filings with the EEOC in future years.

Survivors face numerous barriers to keeping or trying to access safe housing. In NRCDV's August 2018 TA Question of the Month, Kris Billhardt of the National Alliance for Safe Housing explores ways that advocates and housing providers can collaborate to meet survivors' housing needs.

Why #1Thing? The Domestic Violence Awareness Project Advisory Group came together to develop a unified message for inspiring action. NRCDV's DVAM 2018 countdown webinar explores how our collective One Things can lead to the social transformation we all desire to see in our communities and the world. 

This report discusses the findings from an evaluation of a domestic violence investigations training for law enforcement to determine if the training resulted in increased participant confidence in working domestic violence and abuse cases and knowledge of evidence-based procedures to document and investigate these cases.
