The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is the federal government's largest program benefiting low-wage working families, but the IRS estimates that 20 to 25 percent of qualifying taxpayers miss out on thousands of dollars every year because they fail to claim it. Screening for TBI may identify the need for an evaluation. This handout provides background information on brain injury, assistance with identifying existing injuries, and details to provide appropriate help for victims of domestic violence who have sustained brain injuries.
