This report from the LA LGBT Center summarizes the issues, needs, and recommendations for enhancing mental health and support services in relation to LGBTQ domestic violence and sexual assault. The report summarizes a wide range of original information and data obtained specifically for this report and offers recommendations for ensuring that LGBTQ survivors receive the service, support, respect, and care they need to overcome abuse and achieve self-determination and self-fulfillment.

This toolkit is intended to be a starting point for promoting LGBTQ survivors’ access to shelter spaces, and agency-wide training and technical assistance is a critical next step.

This report explores how consent and boundaries are understood and practiced in AANHPI contexts, highlights how gender expectations and the need to respect certain individuals make it hard to establish boundaries, and presents recommendations for advocates and educators.

It is not enough to support survivors in finding employment, but also critical to support survivors in maintaining employment. FreeFrom models the workplace policies survivors say they need to stay employed, including living wage salaries, 401k accounts with an employer match, flexible work hours, paid and protected GBV leave and emergency safety grants, and more.  

This fact sheet summarizes the layered needs and experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and more (LGBTQ+) Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) survivors and communities in the U.S., based on the current literature available.
