"In Indiana and across the nation, Black women and girls disproportionately experience a wide range of negative public health and safety outcomes. We cannot address domestic violence, sexual violence, or intimate partner violence in Indiana without investing in strategies that have the potential to impact multiple social conditions. Additionally, we cannot develop impactful strategies for communities without first asking them what they need. People are experts in their own experiences and must be empowered to participate in the process of defining the problem and identifying effective, meaningful solutions. To respond to the barriers to the safety and wellness of African American and Black women and girls, ICADV is in a multi-year quest for community-led solutions."

"Recommendations in this guide combine violence prevention best practices from the CDC and the voices, wisdom, and lived experiences of Black women and girls across our state with insights on the systemic barriers that dis-enable Black women and girls’ healing."
