The work of supporting children who have been exposed to violence is a community responsibility, and the child protection system is one partner in that critical effort. However, the presence of even one loving and supportive adult in the life of a child who has been exposed to domestic violence can make a significant difference.

This resource is a basic training session on the dynamics of domestic violence, the impact of exposure to domestic violence (DV) on children, and strategies for supporting children who have been exposed to DV. It is appropriate for foster parents, kin caregivers, and adoptive parents with all levels of experience in caring for children who have been exposed to domestic violence, or who may have cause to care for these children in the future.
