A credible/reasonable fear interview is like a mini asylum interview. An asylum officer conducts a credible fear interview after a person expresses fear of returning to their home country to determine whether or not the person should be allowed to apply for asylum. This fact sheet from the Transgender Law Center has information on credible fear interviews for transgender and gender-nonconforming immigrant survivors of violence.
