This manual offers trauma survivors a way to explore their experiences, receive support, and work through the stigma often associated with needing help to heal. The objective of the manual is to provide the reader with a deeper understanding of the effects of trauma, particularly within the context of relationship to self and others, in order to create long-lasting and meaningful change. The manual includes information and self-reflective exercises. Chapters include the Nature and Effects of Trauma; Boundaries; Framework, Guidelines and Process of Relational Support; Tools; and Hints for Facilitators. The chapter on gender politics highlights the need for behavioral health providers to be sensitive to gender-related issues, including domestic violence.
