LGBTQ DV Targeted Recommendation: Rethink Pro-Arrest Policies and Criminal Justice Reform Using Historic, Current and Emerging Knowledge from Diverse Sources in the DV Field

This targeted recommendation urges both mainstream and LGBTQ specific service providers to actively consider the negative systemic impacts of law enforcement and the criminal legal system on communities at the margins. Having an understanding the historical sociopolitical context of how systems such as policing have been set up and how that connects to predictable, often deadly consequences today, is critical to being a successful advocate, mainstream or otherwise.
