This report studies domestic violence homicides in Massachusetts during a ten-year period with the goal of raising awareness of the problem of intimate partner violence and learning how to prevent similar deaths in the future. Domestic violence homicides in this report included not just homicide by an intimate partner but also suicides by domestic violence perpetrators and homicides of people other than the domestic violence victim that were connected to a domestic violence situation. Cases where an intimate relationship never existed but the perpetrator had stalked the victim are also included. Detailed statistics are presented on the 247 incidents that occurred during the ten-year period of the study.
