In this presentation, the speaker explores the evolving understanding of compulsive sexual behavior disorder (CSBD), a condition that has also been referred to as hypersexuality or sexual addiction. The discussion highlights differences between diagnostic frameworks, noting that the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) did not formally recognize hypersexual disorder, while the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) classifies CSBD as an impulse-control disorder. The presentation examines common symptoms, including compulsive sexual thoughts and behaviors, difficulties controlling sexual urges, emotional distress, and impairment in daily life. Particular attention is given to co-occurring conditions such as depression, anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), substance use disorders, and trauma histories.
