This presentation provides a comprehensive overview of the evolution of concepts related to sex addiction, hypersexuality, and compulsive sexual behavior disorder (CSBD), tracing historical perspectives from the nineteenth century to contemporary diagnostic frameworks. The speaker explores the ongoing debate surrounding the classification of problematic sexual behavior, including distinctions among addiction, compulsivity, impulsivity, and trauma-related responses. Particular attention is given to the influence of attachment disruptions, early childhood experiences, emotional regulation difficulties, and co-occurring mental health conditions, as well as the challenges of diagnosis, assessment, and treatment. The webinar also addresses the role of stigma, the effects of moral and religious beliefs, the relationship between pornography use and compulsive sexual behavior, and the need for more comprehensive, evidence-based research and trauma-informed clinical interventions.
