Approximately one in nine of the stories recountedto ARC in interviews and focus groups involved domesticviolence. As a result of ICEs increased use of local police and jails toenforce immigration laws, when victims of violence are arrested, ICEtoo often detains them and their children enter foster care. Many immigrantvictims face an impossible choice: remain with an abuser or riskdetention and the loss of their children.
