A Trauma-Informed Approach for Adolescent Sexual Health

The purpose of this document is to provide information promoting sexual health and well being for all youth impacted by trauma in their lives. It begins with a foundation for sexual health that evolves through optimum development, developmental categories and assets, and sex education. The second section defines prevention efforts and identifies unique experiences that create vulnerabilities in young people. Each vulnerability is followed by prevention efforts to promote sexual health. The fourth section identifies a trauma informed approach, and the fifth provides effective strategies for implementing such a model.
