This document provides a summary of studies focusing on domestic violence in the lives of TANF recipients. The paper explores what we know and don't know about the impact of domestic violence on recipients' physical and mental health and work experience. Most particularly, it focuses on their experiences of interference from their partners, and what we know about barriers to work, the Family Violence Option, and the Child Support Exemption.
