Between 1995 and 2007, Stop It Now! and its local program affiliates commissioned ten telephone surveys to gauge adult knowledge and attitudes on the issue.
Highlights include:
- Nearly all respondents had heard of the term ñchild sexual abuse.î
- Slightly fewer than half (44%) of respondents feel child sexual abuse is a major problem in their state or city.
- Almost all respondents say they would intervene in situations of child sexual abuse.
- Most respondents overall agree with the statement, ñMost sexually abused children are abused by someone they know.î
