Domestic violence refers to a range of abusive behaviors which occur within intimate relationships. Determining the exact proportion of male victims is difficult because they may be more reluctant to come forward and report it. This poem features the story of a male survivor of domestic violence.

HSTS is an early childhood trauma intervention model created by Crittenton Childrens Center in Kansas City, MO. It is designed to support young children as well as, the parents and teachers who love and care about them. HSTS promotes the development of systemic trauma awareness in Head Start communities, teaching resiliency and practical lifelong coping skills.

In the two-year period of 2009-2010, 116 women, children and men died in Indiana when domestic abuse escalated to lethal levels of violence. The goal of this report is to publicly acknowledge these deaths, learn from them, and implement strategies designed to prevent future violence.
