"This study provides important information regarding the lifetime prevalence, past year prevalence, characteristics, and mental health impact of rape among adult women residing in U.S. households as well as among U.S. female college students. The study also provides the first and most comprehensive national data on the prevalence, characteristics, and impact of drug and alcohol facilitated rape and incapacitated rape among U.S. adult women and U.S. college women." Recommendations for further research, policy and practice are also provided.
