Part 3: Exploring Media Literacy with a Focus on Young People of Color

The purpose of this workshop series is to provide tools for enhancing prevention education training and workshops. Media is at the center of our learning and the source of socialized messages we receive everyday. The ability to analyze media and create media that is liberating. As advocates for prevention, engaging in critical media literacy will allow us to change narratives, be more conscious of the messages young people of color are receiving, and inspire young people of color to create liberating media.

In Part 3 participants will observe media created by young people and strategize ways to empower young people to create liberating media. Participants will learn basic principles of social justice storytelling and strategize ways to apply the principles to their work.
