Approximately one in nine of the stories recountedto ARC in interviews and focus groups involved domesticviolence. As a result of ICEs increased use of local police and jails toenforce immigration laws, when victims of violence are arrested, ICEtoo often detains them and their children enter foster care. Many immigrantvictims face an impossible choice: remain with an abuser or riskdetention and the loss of their children.

Learning objectives include:

• Define community engagement and understand the various ways it can happen
• Describe why community engagement is important to creating healthier built environments
• Understand how to facilitate successful community engagement to build healthy communities

The objectives of this review are to evaluate how parenting programs succeed at: (1) eliminating child abuse as manifest in official reports and in-person assessments; (2) altering parenting behaviors or attitudes associated with abuse; (3) enhancing parent-child relationships and positive parenting skills as buffers against abuse.

This research brief explores the relationship between housing issues, homelessness, and sexual violence. The research reviewed indicates that residents of subsidized housing and people who are homeless experience disproportionate rates of sexual violence.

This article explores the danger of sexual violence experienced by LGBTQ prisoners. Reporting on the inmate survey mandated by the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), this article includes recommendations on raising awareness, ensuring safety, training staff, and responding to reports of sexual violence.

This document includes a testimonial submitted by a transgender woman serving a life sentence in California on her experiences of sexual assault in prison and the systems that fail to keep her safe. It also includes statistical information based on letters received by Stop Prison Rape, an organization dedicated to ending sexual assaults in the prison system.

Research conducted and presented in a masters thesis provides insight and reflection on issues, challenges, and cultural climates of sexual assault service providers in British Columbia.
