Evaluation Plan Workbook

The Innovation Network offers a new way of conducting program evaluation that focuses less on the traditional approach of "proving whether a program worked" in favor of "improving it to be more successful." This approach to evaluation is executed internally, rather than by using outside evaluators. "By looking systematically at what goes into a program, what the program is doing and producing, and what the program is achieving, this evaluation approach enables program stakeholders both to be accountable for results and to learn how to improve the program."

Program Evaluation: A Social Change Approach

The goal was of this evaluation was to "test our theory that battering is a logical outgrowth of social norms that promote contempt for women; that the true function of a BIP is to influence those norms in a way that promotes greater safety and justice for battered women; and that its success is appropriately measured in those terms." Includes a description of goals and objectives, activities and outcomes, outcome measurements, key findings, and lessons learned.

Taking Stock: A Practical Guide to Evaluating Your Own Programs

Although its intended audience is organizations that provide out-of-school science activities, the skills and techniques discussed within are easily applicable to any non-profit, community-based organization.

Chapters include information on framing the evaluation, defining goals and objectives, using qualitative and quantitative data, data collection strategies, and interpretation. Examples of each are provided, and the appendices include sample reports using evaluation data.
