Children in Foster Care with Parents in Federal Prison Toolkit

This toolkit was developed by the Federal Interagency Working Group for Children of Incarcerated Parents. The group collaborated with partners across the federal government, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This toolkit was designed for Child Welfare Agencies, Federal Prisons, and Residential Reentry Centers. The toolkit includes:

Healthy Moms, Happy Babies: A Train the Trainers Curriculum on Domestic Violence, Reproductive Coercion and Children Exposed

This curriculum provides training, tools, and resources to help home visitation staff address the complex and sometimes uncomfortable issue of domestic violence. When it comes to promoting health and safety outcomes for women and children impacted by domestic violence, there is a methodology to effective assessment, primary prevention, and anticipatory guidance messaging during home visits. These tools have been designed to facilitate safety planning and supported referrals to domestic violence programs.

Trauma, Resiliency, Wellness: Mental Health, Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault

Some practices in the mental health system may foster unhelpful attitudes or misunderstandings about domestic violence and sexual assault. This presentation provides an overview of the nature of domestic and sexual violence and a general description of community-based advocacy services for survivors. Practitioners will learn about ways to support survivor safety in their practice and the role of safety planning in wellness and recovery plans.
