Shattered Families: The Perilous Intersection of Immigration Enforcement and the Child Welfare System

Approximately one in nine of the stories recountedto ARC in interviews and focus groups involved domesticviolence. As a result of ICEs increased use of local police and jails toenforce immigration laws, when victims of violence are arrested, ICEtoo often detains them and their children enter foster care. Many immigrantvictims face an impossible choice: remain with an abuser or riskdetention and the loss of their children.

Interventions to Strengthen Biological or Social Parenting and the Home Setting to Prevent Sexual Abuse of Children and to Influence the Gender Socialisation of Boys

The objectives of this review are to evaluate how parenting programs succeed at: (1) eliminating child abuse as manifest in official reports and in-person assessments; (2) altering parenting behaviors or attitudes associated with abuse; (3) enhancing parent-child relationships and positive parenting skills as buffers against abuse.

Housing and Sexual Violence Research Brief

This research brief explores the relationship between housing issues, homelessness, and sexual violence. The research reviewed indicates that residents of subsidized housing and people who are homeless experience disproportionate rates of sexual violence.
