This workshop from NRCDV's 2021 Prevention Town Hall critically examines current border policies and the impact that it’s having on asylum seekers fleeing gender-based violence and immigrant victims that reside in border communities. Este taller del Congreso de Prevención 2021 del NRCDV analiza de manera crítica las políticas fronterizas existentes y el impacto que éstas tienen en les solicitantes de asilo que buscan escapar de la violencia de género y en las víctimas inmigrantes que residen en las comunidades fronterizas.

Session 1A: Elevating Community-Based Solutions: Alternative Forms of Safety & Justice / 1A: Elevar las soluciones comunitarias: formas alternativas de seguridad y justicia

Transformative justice is prevention! Victims of abuse are often times reluctant to report and/or share their experiences based on a myriad of reasons. However, the desire for justice and safety is still needed and necessary. This strategy session from NRCDV's 2021 Prevention Town Hall highlights alternative community-based solutions that center victim support and healing. ¡La justicia transformadora es prevención! Las víctimas de abuso son a menudo reacias a denunciar tal abuso o a contar su experiencias debido a una infinidad de razones. Sin embargo, el deseo por la justicia y la seguridad sigue siendo inevitable y necesario. Esta sesión de estrategias del Congreso de Prevención 2021 del NRCDV, destaca soluciones alternativas que provienen de la comunidad y que se enfocan en el apoyo y la sanación de las víctimas.  

National Prevention Town Hall 2021 Day 1 - Opening, Closing & Plenary: Survivor-Centered Prevention: Listening to Survivors of Color / Apertura, clausura y plenaria - Prevención centrada en les sobrevivientes: escuchemos a les sobrevivientes de color

The opening session of NRCDV's 2021 Prevention Town Hall introduced and explored the concept of survivor-centered prevention. It allowed space for survivors to share their vision for prevention based on their lived experiences. La sesión de apertura del Congreso de Prevención 2021 del Centro Nacional de Recursos sobre la Violencia Doméstica (NRCDV, por sus siglas en inglés) presentó y exploró el concepto de la prevención que centra la atención en les sobrevivientes. Se brindó un espacio para que las personas sobrevivientes compartieran su visión sobre la prevención de la violencia a partir de sus experiencias personales.

When Men Murder Women: An Analysis of 2019 Homicide Data

Each year the VPC releases this report in advance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October. The study uses 2019 data, the most recent year for which information is available. The study covers homicides involving one female murder victim and one male offender using data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Supplementary Homicide Report.
