Transformative justice is prevention! Victims of abuse are often times reluctant to report and/or share their experiences based on a myriad of reasons. However, the desire for justice and safety is still needed and necessary. This strategy session from NRCDV's 2021 Prevention Town Hall highlights alternative community-based solutions that center victim support and healing.
Building on the momentum from the 2020 Prevention Town Hall featuring the East North Central region of the United States, the 2021 event explored prevention strategies that center survivors who are most marginalized, uplift grassroots and community-based organizing, honor the leadership of survivors and advocates who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, and promote real transformative change that centers racial justice in our agencies.
¡La justicia transformadora es prevención! Las víctimas de abuso son a menudo reacias a denunciar tal abuso o a contar su experiencias debido a una infinidad de razones. Sin embargo, el deseo por la justicia y la seguridad sigue siendo inevitable y necesario. Esta sesión de estrategias del Congreso de Prevención 2021 del NRCDV, destaca soluciones alternativas que provienen de la comunidad y que se enfocan en el apoyo y la sanación de las víctimas.
Aprovechando el impulso del Congreso de Prevención del 2020 que representó a la región Centro Noreste de los Estados Unidos, el evento del 2021 exploró estrategias de prevención que centran la atención en las personas sobrevivientes más marginadas en la sociedad; destacan el trabajo organizativo de base y de la comunidad; honran el liderazgo de les sobrevivientes y defensores Negres, indígenas y de color; y promueven un verdadero cambio transformador que integra la justicia racial al centro de nuestras agencias.
