The report discusses the following; depression and anxiety, substance abuse, maternal health, HIV / AIDS, violence, homicide and suicide, gay rural women, elderly rural women, disabled rural women as well commonly cited barriers to treatment.
Based on a synthesis of the empirical literature and original data analyses, this report presents an overview of the epidemiology of violence against American-Indian and Alaska-Native women as well as a review of the criminal justice responses to this violence.
The paper concludes by finding that many women were sexually assaulted at various points in the separation process: 53% being sexually assaulted when they wanted to leave, 32% while they were leaving, and 37% after they had left.
