This webinar discusses the Detroit Sexual Assault Kit Action Research Project, which was formed to study the underlying reasons why police were not submitting rape kits for testing, and to develop evidence-based testing plans. In this presentation, presenters describes how and why Detroit discovered many untested SAKs. They also discuss the results of the 1,595 untested SAKs and proposes policy changes at the local, county, and state level that stemmed from these research findings.
