This letter issued by DOJ, HHS and HUD provides information for recipients of federal funds regarding the kinds of services that are considered to be necessary to protect life or safety that all individuals, regardless of immigration status, can access. These services include crisis counseling and intervention, child or adult protective services, shelters and transitional housing programs, among others. The letter also outlines federal non-discrimination provisions.
