This fact sheet provides information related to safety planning with transgender and gender non-conforming individuals who are experiencing intimate partner violence. The fact sheet includes components of safety planning as well as information on ways safety planning with transgender and gender non-conforming individuals differ from safety planning with non-transgender clients.

The Líderes program was created in 2003 in response to Latinas in the Twin Cities of MN asking for leadership opportunities in their communities. In 2006, Casa de Esperanza developed a curriculum for the Líderes and in 2011 it was adopted by Caminar Latino in Atlanta, GA, and adapted for women survivors of domestic violence.

This comprehensive report details advocates needs related to sexual violence in Latin@ communities. For example, while 91.4% of advocates who responded to the national survey said their organization has identified demographics of their intended service population, just 19.3% thought that their clients served matched those demographics; also, participants consistently discussed the importance of creating culturally specific materials that truly reflect the culture of Latin@ and/or Spanish-speaking communities.” This report is also available in Spanish.
