This is a hands-on training for advocates and attorneys on trauma-informed work with immigrant women who are survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

This webinar, held on Monday, April 21, 2014, provided information for both victim advocates working in shelter settings as well as birth doulas, regarding the identification and impact of domestic violence and abuse in pregnant women. Likewise, the benefits of a partnership between these two groups was discussed as a way to further improve pregnancy and birth outcomes for pregnant survivors.

This webinar presents strategies and practical tools to involve men in ending domestic and sexual violence. It includes an analysis on the rationale behind engaging non-abusive men to join the movement to end violence against women; it will explores the different roles that men can play as part of this movement; it will propose a strength-based, holistic framework to work with men; and will offer practical examples of strategies and approaches of engagement.

Pregnant women's experiences and needs for emotional support, physical well-being, access to healthcare and other community-based services are significantly different from women who are not pregnant. For pregnant women also dealing with past or current domestic violence and currently residing in a domestic violence shelter or safe house, the multitude of experiences and needs may be even greater.

While abusers often use technology to maintain control over victims, many people don’t know what constitutes digital abuse and are not able to recognize the signs. This article from the National Domestic Violence Hotline defines digital abuse and offers guidance on how to recognize it.

On this webinar, Dr. Michele Decker discussed the link between dating/domestic violence and women's exposure to HIV. Ways to raise awareness, decrease stigma and increase services for HIV+ women were shared for crisis counselors, domestic violence victim advocates and shelter managers.

In 2013, 35 people were killed in Washington State as a result of domestic violence. This is significantly fewer than the 54 domestic violence deaths in 2012, and the lowest in the seventeen years WSCADV has been collecting this data.

This report describes two surveys of callers to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, one on mental health coercion and the other on substance use coercion. The surveys showed that both types of abuse were prevalent among hotline callers.
